I really want to do this post since ages ago. If you’ve been reading my blog since the beginning, you might know (oh no, you must know :p) that I created this blog to share to you and especially you, who has the same skin problem with me, which is acne!!
Finally, I managed to gather all my everyday skincare products and share it to you.
If you are the first time reader (hello, to you!), I want to sum up a bit about my skin type. I am an acne prone with (extra) oily skin type. Since the day acne decided to “live” on my skin (read: face, neck, chest, back, etc), not in a day they leave me alone.
So…actually, this blog main idea is to share my experiences about all acne/oily skin products that I used.
After 4 years writing on this blog, I tried various products of skincare/makeup that is suitable for me, the sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin. Yup, My skin is soo..sensitive too. Hello, triple threats!
There are some hits and miss, some that I bought myself or given by the brands (thank you so much!!)
After keep changing various ways skincare, I finally managed to keep my acne to its lowest point.
It only needs 6 or 7 steps and only applied after you have your evening/afternoon shower *yeaay*
Caution: if you are looking a skincare routine that can cure the acne, this one is NOT. You know there are many ups and downs if we are fighting with acne, and sometimes our skin is acne “free” and sometimes not. This routine is suitable when you find your skin is better and you want to keep it that way and improve it to its original texture 🙂

1. Cleansing (Better: cleansing oil, alternative: cleansing cream)
|This is me with my everyday makeup, NB: I only wear makeup when I hang out. I usually go bare face when I go to campus to let my face breath 😀|
I tried many types of cleanser to remove makeup and dirt, and find that suit my skin best is cleansing oil.
Cleansing cream is fine too, but when my skin is acting up (being more sensitive), it stings my skin a little bit.
Cleansing oil is still my first choice. It cleans my makeup perfectly and giving me a boost of moist onto my skin. Even though I have oily skin type, because of using many acne products, which are drying up my upper skin, my skin looks unbalanced, its super oily in the inside but outside its dry. I think that’s why the acne keeps coming. The skin is trying to moisture my skin by creating massive amount of oil but ended up creating a zit >.<

Remember, to ALWAYS remove your makeup after you got home.
2. Face Wash (Better: Acne prone/combination type)
Cleaning my face with facial wash is crucial. First time I got my zits is because the facial wash I used was not suitable for me (as I found out later that my skin is sensitive). So, better check is your facial wash suits your skin or not when you are dealing with acne.
I always stick to cleanser that says “suitable for (acne-prone)/(oily skin)/(combination skin)/(sensitive skin)”. I usually buy two types of cleanser, 1 without scrub and with scrub. I use it alternately.
Tips for oily skin type: Don’t use any cleanser when washing you face in the morning. Just wash it with water. There’s no need to use a cleanser because you already clean everything before you are going to sleep last night (and drool can be wash by water only :p)
Even though using cleanser is good but it tends to make skin dry too. The drier the skin, the more oil you body will produce, to say enough to the oil producer, don’t add anymore “oil remover” to the skin.
Currently using Naive green tea cleansing foam (and Nivea 2in1 cleanser with scrub), other facial wash here, here, here, here, here, here, and here
I also new to the serum world. I used to think that serum is for old lady hahaha *sorry*
After using serum for the first time, I wowed with its result. It indeed makes my skin texture better and the result is more visible and better (and shorter time too!).
Serum penetrates deeper into the skin than lotion/toner so it works faster and more effectively.
But, using serum alone without other skincare. I tried it before and it makes my skin dried and I don’t like it T__T.
I also don’t use serum everyday (it’s expensive HAHA). I use it twice or thrice a week.
I still don’t have any recommendation which suit or not. I tried two serum so far and both work wonderful and suit to my skin.
It can be use day and night. I mostly use it at night.
Somehow, I stay away with whitening serum, I have this taught that products with whitening are the harshest (period.)
Just use a or two drop of serum, tap it and wait until it dries up before move to the next step
Currently using Academy Perfecton Serum, other serum here. I also tried Lancome Genefique and it’s really good. If you have the budget, I really recommend to use it ^^o
Lotion/toner is my long time friend. It keeps my face fresh and help me cope with the acne. Some lotion/toner have power to combat acne.
I use it all over my face and neck (same as serum by the way). I choose alcohol-free lotion/toner. Alcohol makes my skin duller and sometime irritates the acne.
Currently using Kanebo Impress Lotion which I super love, sadly I only have travel size so this product is not up for review, but I personally recommend this product (the price though….better check the price yourself *heartache*). This product brightens my dull skin.
If you look at my old photo, my face looks duller which make my face so full of acne.
5. Moisturiser (Better: no fragrance, no alcohol, oil-free)
Not gonna explain how important using moisturiser again in here.
I prefer oil-free, alcohol free and perfume/fragrance free moisturiser. The more natural the better and the texture should be light not heavy nor greasy so it won’t clogged the pores (which again, can cause acne).
If you follow those criteria, I believe anything bad will happen to the skin ^o^
Don’t use too much amount of moisturiser too. A small ball (look at the photo above) like that is enough for the entire face. Take another small amount for your entire neck (front and back).
I like to use the moisturiser to massage my face a little bit.

6. Acne Cream ( On Spot)
Because the acne mostly calmed down, what’s left is zits here and there. If you already on this stage, don’t rub the acne cream to your entire face again. it will irritate the already cured skin again T___T
Apply your acne cream ONLY on the “active” zits.
Currently use Mario Badescu Drying Cream (review soon), Been using this product for a year so I will try to review it as soon as possible 😀
7. Mask (Better: Sheet Mask)
I just trying out to use sheet mask one a week and quite like the result (try it for 4 weeks now). It boost my skin texture a lot and adding bounciness to my skin *LIKE!*
So, I also recommend using mask once or twice a week. I actually want to use it everyday but ehmm…my budget is so limited, once or twice a week result is great enough and do the justice for both my skin and pocket!
Using sheet mask that don’t suitable for your skin type is also can irritate your skin. I like to choose the one that contains oil, green tea or maybe a special mask for acne prone. Stick to oily/acne-prone/sensitive product at any rate!!
Sometimes I also like to use clay/gel type mask but for everyday uses, sheet mask is more convenient.
Lastly, giving you my bare face. It’s been awhile I haven’t take bare face photo, right?
